Summer Sun Safety Tips

Spending time outside is both fun and important to our health, but it’s also important for kids to know these sun safety guidelines:

  • Limit time in the sun, especially during the peak hours of 10:00 am – 3:00 pm when UV rays (the most damaging kind!) are at their highest.
  • Play in the shade if you’re going to be outside for a long time.
  • Always use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 – even in the winter!
  • Protect your skin and eyes from the sun’s damaging rays - wear protective clothing and sunglasses.
  • Too many sunburns can lead to skin problems in adulthood - including skin cancer.
